White Plains, NY (Feb. 8, 2012) – Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation has donated $50,000 to Corporate Angel Network, a charitable organization that arranges free flights to treatment for cancer patients using the empty seats on corporate jets. Gulfstream was one of the first corporate flight departments to join as a CAN participant in 1982 and has donated both flight time and funds to the organization.

“Often the most important factor leading to a patient’s recovery is access to the best possible treatment for their specific type of cancer,” said Larry Flynn, President of Gulfstream Aerospace. “When treatment centers are far from home CAN provides free flights, allowing patients to travel without compromising their weakened immune systems. For more than 30 years, CAN has filled this role for nearly 40,000 patients.”

“Corporate Angel Network needs more than lift capacity to do its job, however,” Flynn continued. “It also needs financial support. We are proud to be listed with the many other great American companies that offer lift and funding to this unique organization.”

Randall Greene, President of Safe Flight Instrument Corporation and CAN’s Chairman, noted that Joseph Lombardo, Executive Vice President, Aerospace of Gulfstream’s parent company, General Dynamics, serves on CAN’s Board of Directors. “Our growth and success come in part from the strong sense of public support that corporate leaders like Joe Lombardo and Gulfstream Aerospace President Larry Flynn provide,” Greene stated.

Since its founding, Corporate Angel Network has grown to include six paid staff and a team of 35 part-time volunteers who work with patients, physicians, corporate flight departments and leading treatment centers to coordinate the medical travel needs of cancer patients with the flight activity of participating corporations.
