Groundbreaking Ceremony for McKinney National Airport New Transient Hangar

McKinney, Texas – March 1, 2018 – McKinney National Airport (TKI) is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, March 2nd at 10:00 AM to commence the construction of a brand new 39,900 SF transient hangar. The event will be held at the new development site at TKI which is located on the south side of the Airport. Special guest speakers for the event include Mayor George Fuller, City of McKinney, Paul Grimes, McKinney City Manager, and Brad Henderson, President of Western LLC – the developer and design-builder for this project. The ceremony is open to the public and the media.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the transient hangar celebrates the first phase of this project. The second phase, which consists of a new state-of-the art 17,000 sf executive terminal, is scheduled to break ground next month. The City of McKinney has partnered with Western LLC on the new $16 million dollar aviation development that was recently approved in December by the City Council.

The new transient hangar and executive terminal are designed for the McKinney Air Center who is the fixed base operator (FBO) that provides fuel and world-class services to the aviation community at McKinney National Airport. The new facilities will enable the Airport and McKinney Air Center to continue to provide their award-winning level of service to the growing aviation community. McKinney Air Center was named best in the nation in the 2017 Pilots’ Choice Awards by for the third time in its 4 years of operation and has been named the Top Star FBO and Top Regional U.S. FBO in the South-Central regional.

The construction of the transient hangar is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year with the executive terminal to be completed by June of 2019.
